Hooray for highway signs! Driving back to Missouri from Alabama, I was delighted to stop into this small winery right off the highway. A beautiful building and nice tasting bar, Genkota makes a bold Chambourcin unlike any I've had in Missouri. They were sold out of their Norton that day, so we had two glasses of the Chambourcin and a cheese plate. Their Chambourcin is aged in American oak, but tastes distinctively different from Missouri's white oak barreled wines--more resin than fresh chainsaw cut. A nice winery, knowledgeable staff, and wine definitely worth the trip.
