This was my first time dealing with this winery. Ms. Rhyne could've been nicer after I purchased a bottle of their red that seemed to be bitter. She contacted me three times and then recouped my losses. These people really are true wine masters. I will definitely try future bottles.

Favorite Wine: none

A friend brought me a bottle of the Red back from a trip. It must of been a bad bottle as it had a distinct smell of warm plastic and a really nasty plastic taste. I almost never throw away wine but I did this one.

Favorite Wine: Sweet Moscato

Don't know who corks their wine, but I have (a) broken a corkscrew trying to uncork a bottle of their Moscato, and spent about an hour yesterday, trying to uncork a bottle of the red. I'm not buying any more of this wine. It isn't worth the time, or the trouble.

Royce, you don't have to "wonder" about this company. They're good folks. We have been drinking the Texas Red (they have omitted the "TEXAS")since 2003. Over the Christmas Holidays, we bought two cases (2 bottles / $10) at Sam's. Great buy. Recently, we purchased two large bottles of the RED at our local WalMart Neighborhood store and had the same experience you had. I called the number you posted, left a message with the operator, and today I received a call from the winemake, Bénédicte Rhyne. Very nice lady who was very grateful I called. Seems a blend was bad and they did not know it. She asked me to provide the lot number off the bottle and the store location where we bought the wine. Again, very concerned about the quality and apologized over and over, and she is sending a couple of replacements. Doesn't get any better than that Royce!

I have been drinking the Texas Red for about 6 months but about a month ago the bottle had an unpleasant taste and i thought it was maybe my taste buds. Yesterday i bought another bottle and it was worse and i had to pour out. As a result i came to this website to get their phone number and lo and behold they have incorrect phone numbers listed. the 800 number is to the chamber of commerce and the direct number is 432-395-2417 not the one they have listed. It makes you wonder about this company.

I bought the RED tonight for the first time. Totally cheap and totally worth it! I was surprised on how tasty it was. I was thinking it would be more like a box wine flavor but it was sweeter than I thought it would be for a red. I was pleasantly surprised.

Favorite Wine: St. Genevieve Shiraz

Even though I am from Pennsylvania, I am in "love" with Texas, especially San Antonio. Expect to eventually relocate there. I found St. Genevieve wines in a local San Antonio WalMart and really enjoyed several of the wines. I brought back several bottles each trip to San Antonio. Just recently I found the wine in my local Pennsylvania State Store, much to my surprise and delight. Now I can have a little bit of Texas here in Pennnsylvania. St. Genevieve has to open the winery to visits, I would be there in a "heart-beat".

Favorite Wine: Ste Genevieve RED

I have enjoyed Thr Texas REd now for years. Yes I also bought two bottles and both had a very bubbly fizz when opened. One jusgt exploded like a bottle of chanpane when opened. I called the winery to find out the problem. They explained that there was a production problem in Oct and the product was shipped before they could correct it. Seems yes champane effervesants was added to the red by mistake . They have recalled all of the shipments and are sending me four free bottles of red to replace the two I bought. They assured me they have corrected the problem and it will never happen again and are sorry for the problem. I feel have been dealt with fairly and am looking forward to the free four bottles. To check to see if you have the bubbly red look at the date on the bottle side near botton if last 6 numbers are 100809 our close to it give um a call will replace it .

Favorite Wine: Ste. Geneieve Red

To Keith and Jeff: The Texas Red is my absolute favorite and have enjoyed it for the last couple of years, but I have recently encountered the fizz problem too. At first I thought it was the result of the way I had handled or stored the wine, but it has happened a few times since from different sellers, so there is either a general problem in production, or an entire batch has been damaged after it left the winery and has been dispersed to various locations in my area (Dallas, TX area) that sell it. I wonder causes the fizz? Until this gets solved and the problem corrected, I'm reluctant to buy any more. Since their phone number is listed here, I intend to contact them to make sure they are aware of the problem.

Favorite Wine: Yellow Tail Shiraz

To Keith Collins journal entry: I also had the fizzy wine experience with the Ste Genevieve Shiraz, but that wasn't the worst of it. The taste was so unpleasant that I just poured it out. It looked fine and smelled fine, but nooooo. Makes me want to go back to box wine.

I had a bottle of Texas Red today and it it had an effervescent like a sparling wine. I have never had this before with STe Genevieve wines before. Does any one know why this would happen?

Favorite Wine: All are good.

This winery is 'unvisitable' as they do not have a tasting room and is not open to the public. They just crank out good, cheap wines. And I do mean cheap! We recently bought two bottles of their red table wine 'Red' for less than $10! Oh, by the way, these are 1 liter bottles!
