Favorite Wine: Vignoles

More good than bad so let me start with the so-called bad to get it out of the way so I can focus on the good. The dry-reds are not the strong point of this winery. And probably most midwestern wine drinkers will not care. The reds all seemed to have a minerally taste I often find in western Iowa reds. Might be a terroir thing. And for me this minerally taste is off-putting so far. Their de Chaunac was a positive exception to this. I thought their version was about as fruity as any I have tasted and its full flavor covered up all but just a slight hint of the mineral tones. The de Chaunac was good. Didn't try their fruit wines but I bet they were good as their whites ranging from semi-dry to sweet we're all good and crisp as far as the ones we tasted. Our favorites were a semi-dry Lacrosse,a sweeter Brianna and a very crisp, yet sweet Vignoles. The Vignoles was sweet without gettng syrupy, actually pretty crisp and just a wonderfully floral, tropical nose that is typical of a good Vignoles. The Brianna was good but the Vignoles here ran paces around it in our opinion.

Favorite Wine: Cranberry/Catawba

This vineyard is very nice. I did a wine tour called Studio and Vine. It was a pleasant setting. We were allowed 5 wines, I would have liked to try more, but didn't know how to go about it.
