Favorite Wine: The only on for me - Golly Wobbler

I once went on a wine tour and tasted 13 wines - the first 12 were dry or semi dry and I didn't like any of them. Then the 13th wine was a sweet Niagra that is the best I've tasted, called The Golly Wobbler! Delicious.

Favorite Wine: MD Reserve and the Choc Zin

We stopped by the winery to learn more about the wines and enjoy a tasting. The staff was most informative on the wines presented. The one thing I really appreciated was if the wine was out of stock they did not offer at the tasting. The favories was the MD Reserver Cabuernet, a great red wine, Viognier, a nice smooth dry wine, the gollywobble white and last the chocolate zin both nice after dinner wines. I recommend at stop if your are enjoying the St Michael's area of Maryland and enjoy some great wines.

Favorite Wine: Any gollywobbler

GREAT experience - and I've had some bad ones! For $6/person for a tasting, my group of 6 basically got 6 full glasses of wine each. We were personally catered to and the staff is extremely friendly and personable - you feel like you're old friends by the end. There is no arrogance. You're allowed to wander the mill freely. Their wines are excellent - I'm so bummed that PA has ancient liquor laws and we can't get their wines shipped to us. My husband can be a bit of a wine snob, and he loved their reds as well.

Favorite Wine: Chenin Blanc, Chocolate Zin, Long Splice, Merlot

I have to say that I was extremely impressed with this winery's wines, and I can't wait to go back. I have even been on the lookout for some St. Michael's Winery wines in my local stores (but they don't sell in VA yet, only MD and DE). Out of the 12 wines I tasted, there were at least 9 that I woudl love to take home, though I only splurged on about 4 bottles. I have been to dozens of Virginia wineries, and this one Maryland winery seems to make better wine than the vast majority of Virginia wineries that claim to have fantastic soil. It just goes to prove that it doesn't take great soil - it takes great winemakers. The employees were incredibly friendly, but be warned that it can get VERY busy on a nice summer day, so plan to wait a little while to get your seat at a barrel in the quaint tasting room.

Favorite Wine: Pinot Blanc

I had a hard time taking more than one or two sips with most of the reds and those sips were follower with some funky after tastes. It seemed that maybe these wines were bottled too soon or the wine makers needs some more experience with the red wines. I would stay away from the Pinot Noir. The whites were quite a bit better. The tasting experience was nice, but that was about it. I didn't want to take any home with me. I suggest spending your time at another winery in Maryland if you can. I have enjoyed the wine from those places so much more. At least the staff was friendly and the old mill that the winery is in was cute.
