Norton Wine Review: With high recommendations from a very knowledgeable Missouri Norton guru, we visited this delightful, relatively new setting last year. The open vineyard grounds lent themselves nicely to available appetizers and wine. A surprisingly large cross-section of successful white wines, blends and a few reds are already producing representative examples of what Missouri has to offer. We opened our first bottle yesterday of our 2014 French oaked Norton wine after decanting and letting it breathe for 45 minutes. A stunning surprise greeted us which compared to the best of this grape's potential. Long dark sips, yet soft extended tastes. A wonderful wine to drink on its own without complicating it with food. Be prepared for the weekend rush of visitors to this location.

Visited this new winery early in the the day in July 2011. Tried 5 wines none really stood out enough for us to purchase.

Favorite Wine: Traminette

We visited this winery late in the day and our taste buds were admittedly tired. This is again another very new winery. The Norton was good but didn't stand out from the Augusta pack. We felt their Traminette was a little more unique. There are a lot of new plantings visible from the highway so they are still ramping up production. Because everything is so new (not to mention a tornado that dropped down and tore off part of the roof on their building this past spring (2011), the tasting room experience lacks character in my opinion. We will visit again earlier in the day in a few more years when they have some more time under their belt.
