2009 - Wine at tasting did not match Wine purchased :>(

Norton Wine Review: Tasting was free with no sales push, friendly atmosphere, but no one had any knowledge of how the wines were made. The host was provided with a tip sheet of where some of the grapes came from since MVW only buys the grapes or juices and “processes” the wine at this touristy location. Their Cynthiana (Norton) had a light cough syrup taste which I presume would sell in this setting. Wonder if Dolly Parton has tried any of these wines? I also tried their Chambourcin and Gewürztraminer concoctions with little success.

Visited many times.. does seem that lately our visits are more rushed.. maybe because it's tourist time.

We had a terrible experience at Mountain Winery...this may be a family run winery however, the owners may want to educate their staff on the wines they produce. The staff person we worked with was rude, disagreeable and actually told us she was being watched on a hidden camera when we asked to revisit one of the wines. She did not understand the meaning of "revisit" and said she had never heard of that term before. This was our initial visit to this winery, we will not return nor will we recommend it to friends.

We went to the same place as others who have commented, but I don't know that we had the same staff. Our experience was certainly different. We were rushed through the tastings and were told next to nothing about the wines. Perhaps they have some good ones, but we didn't enjoy the first three we tasted and were turned off by the frenetic pace. Perhaps we hit them on a bad day, but since we live in Arizona, we aren't going to go out of our way to go back.

Excellent and knowledgeable staff and some great affordable wines! Makes the visit to the mountains even more special to stop at Mountain Valley Winery.
