Favorite Wine: Bocelli
Nice feel at the entrance to the land with a their sign and the grapes on the left as a welcome. Nice porch in front looked relaxing and just the place to gather with good friends. On this Saturday afternoon, the one hostess behind the bar was a bit overwhelmed by the decent sized crowd. The tasting room was nice if a bit small. We only gave two stars but 2 stars for us means everything was okay just not outstanding or anything. We're still glad we went and will probably visit again sometime. Just won't make our A list yet. Overall the wines were two stars on average. I liked their Bocelli which is their dryest white made from Frontenac Gris. It probably isn't for everyone though would be my guess. But I give it a solid three stars. One the other end they had a 2008 and a 2010 HR Blush. One of the few wines I have had to say that I didn't choose to finish the tasting sample. The nose on the 2008 especially turned me off. Their Rogers Red was their dryer red. It was pretty thin but had a nice little bite on the front but fell off quite quickly. My first thought was it was a little bit vinegary on the end but their literature described it as having some white pepper and I would agree the taste at the end was white pepper. My other two wines that I would rate between two and three stars are the Cottontail ( a sweeter version of the Frontenac Gris) and the Ma ca Bo which was the sweetest white on the ticket but not too sweet for Nebraska wines.

Favorite Wine: Capitol View red
Our trip to WunderRosa Winery was on a sunny, crisp Sunday afternoon in late October. I was out once again on a quest for good wine and happy times with my fellow Wine Goobers. The WunderRosa winery consists of a small room with a seating area that contains four comfy chairs, the rest of the room holds the bar, a small area for purchasing t-shirts and gift items, and several tables with chairs. The woman working was friendly and helpful and soon the room was filled with other guests. First we tried the Capitol View Red. It was semi-sweet, as described in the flier found on the table and everyone agreed that it was delicious! Our next choice was Cottontail 2009. The flier described it as a sweet white wine, but we found it to be more tart than sweet. After that we tried samples of Capitol View White which was described as being similar to a Riesling, but was nothing at all like a true Riesling (I’ve lived in Germany and tasted Riesling…this is not it) and HR Blush, which was quite tart even though the flier described it as a sweet blush wine (we all took a sip of each of these from a sample glass offered by the hostess). We all agreed that both of these were too tart / bitter and instead opted for another bottle (or two) of the Capitol View Red. Our visit to WunderRosa was fun, but honestly, the best part of this day was the company...lots of great conversation, laughter, and some tears with some of the finest women I know. Sadly, the wine did not measure up to our expectations. Now we just need to decide where to go next!
