Glacial Till - Tasting Room

My friend and I had an AWFUL experience yesterday and we are very disappointed at poor quality of service during our first visit. We visited the place at about 4:00 PM. We stood by the front desk for a while with no one to greet us. We then moved over to the bar area, waited for about 10 minutes right in front of the bar (after checked the clock), we were not even acknowledged!! The two ladies working behind the bar did not even make eye contacts. Then two other girls walked in and they went straight to the other end of the bar and cut us off. They were served immediately. By then we were getting agitated and felt disrespected. The gal with long hair behind the bar told the short hair lady who were serving the two other girls that we were there for a while, meaning she was aware we were waiting, yet there was still no acknowledgement, not even a smile. The short-haired gal did not say anything, not even "we will be right with you." Actually she did not even look up. We did not even get a "Hi" from the staff the 20 minutes we were there, we left feeling disrespected and disappointed. Our business went to another place that was pakced busy but the staff has the capacity to smile and acknowledge us. Very disappointed at the place.

Favorite Wine: Chambourcin

As we visited Glacial Till Vineyard's tasting room in downtown Ashland everything said quality and relaxation. Thus we were not really surprised when the wines were a clear step above anything we have had before in our home state of Nebraska. The wines, in general were crisp, clean and bold. Their Chambourcin was the most fruit forward I have ever tried. The Seyval Blanc in a steel and an Oaked style were nice to us especially since we're not usually white wine fans. Again everything said understated, yet clearly quality. For instance, they decided to do bigger pours and quality stemware paired appropriately to each given wine. Nice art gallery upstairs. The downtown had a nice buzz on the Sunday we went. We will have to visit the vineyards in Palmyra next time. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we thought this tasting room and the wines compared very favorably with anyplace we have been. I am tempted to give the wines four stars. That might be stretching it but they're definitely a high three.
