Take the time to visit this hidden gem. It's hidden because the Lake Eire Wine Trail chose to throw this winery out of their advertisements due to some snooty customer's complaints. Give yourself and hour to sit and enjoy the wines, as well as the stories that Mr. Watso tells. We recommend doing the full flight of tastings - you get to sample ALL of the wines. Often we go to a winery and only like 1 or 2 of the wines we sample. Some are too dry, others are sickly sweet. We can honestly say that we enjoyed EVERY SINGLE WINE. Don't come here if you are rushed, or expecting some state-of-the-art tasting room. Come with patience for the state-of-the-art wines. You won't be disappointed! This is probably one of the only wineries on the Lake Eire Wine Trail that we will visit, and buy from, time and again.

Favorite Wine: cabernet sauvignon 2001

Four girlfriends touring western NY wineries found this to have wine that was unmatched by any other. The atmosphere was charming - Mr Wastco was so charming and informative about wine growing and wine making. We knew we were in a special place when we heard other people who were entering the tasting room say "I love this guy". Can only hope to return...

Favorite Wine: Apple Crisp, Winter Spice, Chautauquablumchen

Quaint little place, the owner is very interesting. Warm Winter Spice would be excellent on a chilly night. Apple crisp tastes just like cinnamon apples.

If you want to try a winery that is a unique experiance, this is the place. Simple, old farm house, with lots of charm. We went there with a group of three. Mona and John presented each wine with a story and a recommendation for meals complimented by each wine. What a treat! After visiting so many wineries that were very similar to each other, we found this one to be a special place, that we will always remember. I recommend the Cab and the Crisp apple wine (for those cold nights). Small place, so go with a small group and plan to stay nearly an hour. Delightful experiance.

Every year my girl friends and i plan a wine tour for mothers day...we were very dissapointed in Schloss Doepken winery...we walked in and were immedietly treated poorly...the gentleman told us that we were probably only there to get free wine and if we didn't plan on buying atleast one bottle apiece we should leave now...he then became argumentative when we tried to explain to that we had every intention of tasting wine and purchasing what we liked...we left with out tasting and were completly offended by the way we were treated...no matter how good the wine was we were very happy with other wineries on the trail and i highly recommend the rest

Favorite Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Schloss Doepken winery. Some very interesting and exceptionally good tasting varieties. The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite!
