Childress Vineyards (written Jan 26, 2009)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
Arriving at Childress Vineyards you feel like you are going back into a forgotten time. Romance fills the air as you step through the double doors that lead you inside this tuscan styled villa. The rich mohagany mouldings and earth tone colors makes everyone feel warm and welcome. There's so much to see and do here. The Bistro serves a delectable assortment of antipasta platters as well as a scrumptous Sunday brunch. I highy recommend taking the tour and coming back in the fall for Harvestfest and stomp the grapes just like "Lucy". After the tour head to the tasting room and ask for the Signature Tasting this is the best deal by far. For 15.00 each you will taste the best wines they have to offer plus two crystal wine glasses giftwrapped to take home. Try a piece of choclate with the Merlot and taste the flavors explode on your palate. My girlfriend swears she has found the place she wants to get married at and they do have a Bridal Suite at the winery. This is a beautiful place to visit. Come during the growing season and enjoy the live music or have a picnic on the grounds.

Old Stone Vineyard and Winery (written Jan 26, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 4 stars
A small winery that is up & coming. It's by far one of the best values for tasting. They offer over 15 different wines plus desert wines that can be tasted for only 3.00 plus a souiviner glass to take home. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the best they have. It's a little pricey im my opinion, however it's does deliver a rich full bodied experience. Also Try their desert wines.

Thistle Meadow Winery (written Jan 23, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars
I had the pleasure of meeting the owners Tom & Nancy Burgess several years ago. This winery sits on the edge of a 200 acre christmas tree farm. A full Bed & Breakfast completes this little slice of heaven located off the Blueridge Parkway. Tom is your Tour guide for this quaint little winery. They offer a great stay & make your own wine package.

Chateau Morrisette Winery (written Jan 23, 2009)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
I actually discovered this winery while riding the parkway on a motorcycle tour with friends. Located off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway in the Meadows of Dan this replicated French Chateau is absolutley breath taking when you first arrive. The wines are absolutley wonderful. Try the "Blue Dog" Don't forget to stay for lunch.
