Chrysalis Vineyards (written Jan 21, 2009)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
This was one of the first wineries we went to. It has a beautiful view and great ambiance. The wines are pretty good. Remember, Nortons are a wine that most people love or hate. It's not my favorite Norton, but remember that's subjective. I did really like the other wines, so don't skip this winery based on one wine alone. Try it, you might LOVE it. It's a beautiful place to go and the people are very friendly.

Gray Ghost Vineyards (written Jan 21, 2009)

A great one to go to. It's also very close to Unicorn Winery, so a day trip with 2 wineries close together makes it nice. They have recently (over the last 2 years) added a bigger tasting room. The people are friendly. There's a cute little gazebo outside for visitors. There's a shaded area that makes visiting in the summer nice. A good amount of room for the kids to run around. We enjoy it!

This is a nice winery. We've been going there for a few years now, and the wines have definitely improved over time. I think that they're only getting better. They have a nice pond in the front with a deck. It's shaded and nice and cool in the warmer months. If you do go there, YOU HAVE TO TRY THE CHEESE BALL! Seriously, my husband is a sucker for it every time!

The Winery at La Grange (written Jan 20, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
Nice winery! It's the sister winery to Pearmund Cellars as it has the same winemaker. They are a bit newer than Pearmund, but we can already tell that their wines are only going to get better. They're good now! There's a little kids room with toys and things near the back. There are also lots of shaded picnic tables and a brick oven outside. It's set up beautifully and is very relaxing to visit! I actually recommend the Norton here. If you're not a fan of Norton, give this one a try. They blend it with Cab Franc (I believe) and it does mellow that harsh Norton taste out a bit. We enjoy it.
