Chrysalis Vineyards (written Jan 21, 2009)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Rubiana

This was one of the first wineries we went to. It has a beautiful view and great ambiance. The wines are pretty good. Remember, Nortons are a wine that most people love or hate. It's not my favorite Norton, but remember that's subjective. I did really like the other wines, so don't skip this winery based on one wine alone. Try it, you might LOVE it. It's a beautiful place to go and the people are very friendly.

Gray Ghost Vineyards (written Jan 21, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Cabernet Franc

A great one to go to. It's also very close to Unicorn Winery, so a day trip with 2 wineries close together makes it nice. They have recently (over the last 2 years) added a bigger tasting room. The people are friendly. There's a cute little gazebo outside for visitors. There's a shaded area that makes visiting in the summer nice. A good amount of room for the kids to run around. We enjoy it!

Pearmund Cellars (written Jan 20, 2009)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Ameritage, and Vin de Sol

We love the wine here! Chris Pearmund does a great job with his wine. The reds are all wonderful and the whites are great too. There's a play corner for the kids and a beautiful view especially in the spring and summer when it's warm out. They have a barrel room where they've been known to have special pairings. It's a fun place and I would recommend it to anyone. Be sure to try the Vin de Sol if they have it when you go. It's nutty and delicious!

Mediterranean Cellars (written Jan 20, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

The people here are so sweet. They're Greek, and are just very warm-hearted. They have very interesting wines with lots of herby notes. We definitely enjoy it! They have the Rechina (I hope I spelled that correctly). It's definitely different, but fun to try. Not a whole lot of running around room for kids, but honestly...the people are just so nice, I feel comfortable having my daughter in there. I know that they won't be offended.

Old House Vineyards (written Jan 20, 2009)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Bacchnalia

We love this place. It's the closest winery to our home, but it's just a cozy winery. The people there are very friendly. There are big open spaces for kids to run around. There's also a nice pond in the front, near the vines. The Vidal Blanc's nice in the summer when it's warm as is the Rosie's Rose. All of the reds are very nice.

Barrel Oak Winery (written Jan 20, 2009)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Norton

We had so much fun at this winery! The welcome children and even allow dogs inside. Our daughter loved the place. There's an upstairs loft with couches and tables. They even show movies up there sometimes. The wines are very nice. I love reds, and the reds were the best part. Don't skip this one!

Chateau O'Brien at Northpoint Winery (written Jan 19, 2009)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 1 stars Ambiance: 2 stars

We went there a few weeks ago with our 3 year old daughter. We love visitng wineries with her. She loves the fact that most wineries have playrooms and are kid friendly. When we went there yesterday, the winery owner greeted us at the door. He told us that we were not welcome because of our daughter. They were not allowing any kids there. At first, I was shocked and we just turned away. But after walking my crying daughter back to our car, I went in for a little heart-to-heart with him. He really didn't care too much. He claimed there were kids putting their hands in his firepit. Okay, fine. Ever heard of safety? How about a mesh cover for your firepit or a gate? Hello! So disappointing. I wrote him an e-mail telling him that neither us or any of our child-having friends would ever visit there again. How rude and smug! Someone should ask him about the teenagers working behind the counter. Are they allowed to be there. Don't waste your time on this one, guys. Rude, rude, rude.
