Chatham Hill Winery (written Jul 06, 2011)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
I am not sure why someone felt so inclined to give such negative unconstructive feedback… If anything it compelled me and a group of my friends to see what the fuss was about, especially since the word around town is that this is a cool and trendy new type of winery. Upon pulling up to the winery, yes it is in a unique setting. However, I would think that if they built an actual vineyard in this location/climate, the quality of grapes might not be as good. Being able to select their grapes from all over the country allows them to have a better quality product. Once we walked in, we felt as though we had stepped out of the middle of the RTP and into a winery… especially that barrel room in the back, how cool! And the art gallery, way to support local artists! As for the wines, I appreciate that they cater to different palates. News flash – WE ARE IN THE SOUTH… Sweet wines are appreciated by many in this region, so we will just let everyone be entitled to their own taste preferences! I do prefer a dryer wine, especially their reds, the Cab Franc is by far my favorite. My friends and I had a wonderful experience and would suggest to everyone who takes the time to read these comments, to experience the uniqueness of Chatham Hill and make your own judgment. Cheers!
