Stoney Meadows Farm Winery (written Mar 17, 2008)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
I might be a bit bias because well Stoney Meadows is my parents farm, but I can tell you a little about it. First off, the winery is small. It started as my parents hoby, and it turned out alot of people really liked the wine. So my Dad, Karl, thought it be nice to try having a small winery. Since then they make more and more wine every year. Dandilion is the best, but it sells out with in 1-2 weeks of its coming of age. The pear wine is one of my other favorites, along with elderberry. However, since it is small, its only open weekends. However if you call Mom,Roxanne, is usally home and more than willing to open up the winery and show you the farm. She has beautiful gardens in the summer so be sure to take a walk around. The farm is also in a great area- not just for wine. In the summer you can stop and dine at Cascade grill on the end of Owasco lake, or visit New Hope Mills and head into Skaneatelles. You can also catch Karl weekends at the Ithaca Farmers Market! Jessica Schillawski P.S the phone number is (315) 497- 1632
