Palaia Vineyards (written Feb 10, 2007)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars
On a scale of 1 - 5 (with 5 being the best) I give this a 5+! I was thrilled to find this recently opened winery in my own back yard in Highland Mills. The tasting room is in a barn that dates from the 1800s, and is loaded with atmosphere. The wine is excellent - Joyful Pink is my favorite - but there are several great reds and an award winning white as well. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming; the barn is loaded with all kinds of unique gifts to browse & the staff is friendly, witty, helpful, & informative. A truly pleasant place to pass some time before shopping (it's close to Woodbury Commons) or dining in the area. I have taken the holiday wine tour in this area over the last 2 years & unfortunately this winery isn't on the tour, but it is certainly my favorite for both the wine & the atmosphere!
