Greenvale Vineyards (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Great vineyard. Some very good wines. Tastings are a little expensive though at $12

Mount Warner Vineyards (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

LOVED this place! If you are looking to speak to a small "mom and pop" operation - this is it! Call and make an appointment. We were given a great tour of the vineyard as well as the winery which is very tiny but their hearts are into the wine and it shows! They were all so good! I highly recommend it.

Mineral Hills Winery (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Great little farm winery on the back roads of Florence. The wine was very very good! We were very impressed!

Black Birch Vineyard (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Spectacular wine! Very very good! Nice little place, nice patio out back. Will definitely visit again!

Lost Acres Winery (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Every wine at this winery is outstanding. Great inside atmosphere.

Arrigoni Winery (written Aug 31, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Nice winery. Great atmosphere and nice outside seating. Wine is very good, but not their own grapes at this point. Their vines are still very young. But the wine is all great!

Russell Orchards and Winery (written Aug 28, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Was unable to taste any wines. Store was open but they stated they were not doing tastings that day.

Mill River Winery (written Aug 28, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Great winery. Spectacular wines. Wish they had open bottles or could serve by the glass

Walker Road Vineyards (written Aug 07, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Red and White Wine both!

Wonderful little mom and pop winery. The gentleman was very nice and the wine was outstanding! he was extremely knowledgeable and spent a lot of time with us. He only has two kinds - a white and a red, both mixes but very very good! We were very impressed and will be back! He is only open the first full weekend of each month - but try to put this little gem in your schedule!

Chamard Vineyards (written Aug 07, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 1 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Not all that friendly. Almost seemed as if WE were intruding on the staff. Felt very uncomfortable. The tastings were very expensive too so we opted to just taste a couple and buy a bottle. The wine was just "ok", but the atmosphere inside and out was very nice. we did enjoy sitting in the grass near the pond and waterfountain. Great views

Newport Vineyards (written Aug 07, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Great wines, nice place. Was a little upset they do not allow open bottles on the property (so you can't just hange out and enjoy a bottle of wine). Tastings are quite expensive.

Jones Winery (written Aug 06, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

2011 - Nice little winery. Cozy place. Long walk from the parking lot through a courtyard, but nice. 2012 - revisited this year. We have taken up picnicking at many of these Wineries to enjoy a bottle. This winery does not allow food, open bottles of wine, or picnicking. A few of the wines this year had that horrible fermented taste to them (as if a step in the process had been skipped). Probably will not visit again as we were not terribly impressed with the staff this year either. Very unfriendly almost.

Rosedale Farm & Vineyard - West Hartford (written May 07, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Winery annex closed

This West Hartford annex of Rosedale Winery is no longer in existance as of the close of 2011. The main winery does not open until July so we will be unable to confirm it's continued business until that time (5/6/12)

Sharpe Hill Vineyard & Restaurant (written May 01, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Ballet of Angels

Very cute winery. Great atmosphere inside and out. Staff leaves a bit to be desired. Very "Upity" and not very knowledgeable. The staff almost didn't fit with the winery. Winery was very country, staff acted like they were running a 5 star restaurant that entertains the rich and famous. Was not terribly impressed. Only really liked a couple of wines. Would go back, but primarily for the atmosphere.

Taylor Brooke Winery (written May 01, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: St. Croix Rose/Chocolate Essence

Great winery. Very friendly knowledgeable folks. Was a pleasure to visit. Outstanding chocolate dessert wine. Merlot with chocolate essence.

Long Point Winery (written Mar 13, 2012)

Buttonwood Grove Winery (written Mar 13, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Frontenac Point Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Stay Sail

Nice winery. simple but nice inside. Back deck overlooks lake Cayuga with a tree growing in the middle of the deck. No seating when we were there out back (July) so not sure if it's offered or not

Lucas Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Blues

Nice. A little commercialized, not much though. Small, well decorated. Great wine.

Nice Winery. Good Wine. Very nice atmosphere. Seating inside and out.

Stonington Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Vidal Blanc

Very nice winery. They know their wines very well and they were delicious. Seating inside, much more outside

Sheldrake Point Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Atmosphere was nice. Staff was nice. Wine wasn't that great though. We weren't impressed. Bistro had just closed so we did not eat here.

Lakeshore Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 2 stars

Favorite Wine: Aunt Clara

Nice little place. Off of a barn in a small rickety old room, rocking chairs to sit in while tasting. Kind of different. Wines weren't that bad. Pretty good as a matter of fact.

Montezuma Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Seyval Blanc/Pintail

Nice winery. Great shop inside and ton's of wines to choose from. They were all great. We had trouble choosing. That said once we got home and opened the one we bought it had that horrible fermented taste and smell. I don't think we would have missed this at the winery so I'm assuming we got a bottle from a bad lot. The thing I did not like about this place is that they import all their grapes. I prefer a winery that at least tries to grow some of their own grapes. Just personal preference

Americana Vineyards Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Crystal Lake/Chablis

Very nice place. Open very late the night we were there and we were the only ones. They were very nice. Great atmosphere. Wines were great. Would definitely visit again. Seating inside and out.

White Silo Farm and Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Small, interesting place. Very friendly. Wine was ok. Not bad, but not earth shattering. Would definitely visit again. Seating inside and out.

Hosmer Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: 2010 Reisling

Small place but very nice and quaint. They were just opening for the day when we got there, but were very friendly and served us right away. The wine was great. We fell in love with the 2010 Reisling which had not even been put out for sale yet. We were the proud owners of the first bottle!

Anthony Road Wine Company (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Tony's Red

Very nice winery. Very friendly knowledgable staff. All wines were very good. Cute story about Tony's red.

Land of Nod Vineyard and Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Ok winery. Very small mom and pop place which we liked. The two wines were ok. Not out of this world, but definitely ok. Not sure we'd go back again, but glad we stopped

Saltwater Farm Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Sauvignon Blanc

Gorgeous place. The inside is huge and beautiful. Fireplace, plenty of seating, but it's the outside that will take your breath away. From the upper level you are overlooking the whole vineyard with the ocean in the distance. Down below you can sit out on the grass right near the vineyard and enjoy. The people were so nice, it was a pleasure to visit. Wines were great.

Ventosa Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Very large place. More "commercialized" than others. Very fancy place, not really mom and pop type. Have a cafe onsite. Plenty of seating indoors and out. The size tells me it must be crazy during the summer (we went in Jan). Wines were ok. Not horrible, but not great either. Didn't really find any we liked.

Zugibe Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Fireside Red and Fireside White

Beautiful place. Cool labels and logo! Wine was very very good! Staff very friendly.

Belhurst Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 2 stars

Not impressed. Impressive from outside which is what drew us in, but wines weren't that great and staff were for the most part unfriendly. Made us feel like we were putting them out of their way or keeping them from something during the tasting. we did eat in Edgars restaurant. Not bad. Just ok. Food and wines pricey for what you get.

Pompous Ass Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Reisling

We went here for the same reason most would...the interesting name. Nice place. Very pleasant staff. Wines were pretty damn good. A few wines with interesting names as well puts some fun into it.

Three Brothers Wineries & Estates (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 1 stars

Wines here were not impressive. Just ok. Not great, not horrible. The thing that turned me off to this place is it's more like a party joint. There are 3 wineries/tasting areas and one brewery/tasting area. We were there in dead of winter and there were 7 limo's in the parking lot and the place was a zoo. Ton's of young kids with party hats, beads, etc. They make a stop here and turn it into a party place running back and forth between all the wineries. Not my kind of place. Too busy and noise for me.

Thirsty Owl Wine Company & Bistro (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Vidal Blanc

Very nice place. Great view from the back where the bistro is. Food is limited but very specialized by the chef and very very good. Wine is great as well. Very nice staff.

Les Trois Emme Winery and Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Old Vine Zinfandel!

Outstanding winery. This is a true "mom and pop" winery. The owner (wife) greeted us right at the door and told us all about the wines and their names and how they had gotten them. She was extremely pleasant and a pleasure to listen too. She showed us over to the tasting area. The tasting in this place takes a few extra minutes because this husband and wife team thought it was necessary to pair their wonderful wines with homemade dishes. So they also have a food license and cook and prepare a small sample of a variety of foods to go with your wines. The wine glasses are personally painted by the owner and the decorations inside and out are beautiful. Every wine we tasted was spectacular and we went home with a variety case because we couldn't decide.

Cassidy Hill Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Coventry White

Beautiful winery. Lot's of indoor seating, Lots of outdoor seating. Ok to bring your own food. Wine is spectacular. Winery sits at the end of a dirt road kind of tucked away. Very friendly. Beautiful views

Connecticut Valley Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Every one! (Deep Purple the best! Raspberry delight dessert second)

Spectacular wines! Every single one! You will be hard pressed to find a wine you DON'T like at this vineyard. Hardworking dad and his son doing all the work and the effort they put into this shows their passion. They are very proud and they should be! You get to taste all wines on their list (no glasses here - disappointing since they are one of my favorites!). Not a lot of seating inside though. Plenty outside for the warmer months.

Jerram Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 1 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Terrible wine. Very very nice couple running it, but all wines had that fermented smell/taste which signifies something went wrong in the process. We did not find a wine we liked here.

Holmberg Orchards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 1 stars

This is not the winery, this is a market. The wine tasting is in the back of the market. all wines are fruit based other than grape. Not bad, but not my type of winery.

Gouveia Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 2 stars

Favorite Wine: Stone House White/Cayuga White

Very large winery. Seating for ALOT of people. Can be great if you're having a get together, party, etc. Bring in all the food you like (they have soft drinks and water as well as wine - so don't bring your own). Two tasting bars. Spectacular views from all around (they are on a hilltop) Wines are "ok", not bad, but not out of this world. Drawback to this place is accoustics are horrible! So if you're going to just sit with a friend, your spouse, etc and talk - this is NOT the place. You can't hear yourself think. Very noisy

Adirondack Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Serene White/Strawsling/Berry Blush/Mellow Blush

You don't visit the actually winery for this one. They have a shop for tastings right near Lake George amongst all the other shops. Not a place to sit and hang out, but plenty of room to taste their wines. Numerous spectacular wines. They do many semi-sweets with fruit flavors (like strawsling - reisling with strawberry). They also have wine flavored icecream. Highly recommend for the wine, but not to sit and hang out and have a bottle.

Langworthy Farm Winery Inc (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Chardonnay - stainless

Due to the fact I visited this winery a long time ago I am hesitant about reviewing the wine. The winery itself is small but quaint. Limited seating in back where the tastings occur. This is one of the few wineries I've ever been too where you are seated for a tasting. I thought it was great! Wish more did this (but we know why they don't). You get to sample their wines overlooking their vineyards and rose bushes. Very nice

Hardwick Vineyard and Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Giles E. Warner

Very very nice winery. Ambiance is neat. It's a "barn" per say off an old farm house. Tastings are upstairs with plenty of seating up and downstairs to enjoy. Outside seating was limited from what we could see, but some nice views.

Snow Farm Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Snow White

Cute little winery with some great wine. Visited winery in Champlain and annex near Queechee. Wine is great. Dessert wine is also great. The annex has ton's of indoor seating. The winery has some indoor as well, am not sure about outdoor.

Charlotte Village Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Pinot Grigio

Visited a store selling this wine. Did not get to visit winery during the winter months. We purchased a bottle (gambled) and it was great! Would love to visit the winery in the future but until then cannot give reviews further than this.

Hilltop Orchards (Furnace Brook Winery) (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Charval

LOVE this winery. We frequent it often in winter and summer. Summer outside seating available at tables, adirondack chairs, etc. Nice views. Indoors plenty of seating. Love sitting by the fireplace during the winter. They also have snowshoing during the winter and are known for their Johnny Mash Hard Cider. Wines are fantastic. My only (minor) gripe about these guys is out of all the wineries visited in MA, CT, VT, etc...these are the only ones that you do not get a glass free with your tasting. You have to purchase seperately. While we know this is common practice in other places (i.e. NY), the new york wineries charge $1-3 for a tasting then you buy the glass. MA, CT, VT avg $5-8 per tasting and you get the glass. FBW is $6 I believe and no glass. (Yes I'm splitting hairs, just relaying info)

Putney Mountain Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Rhubarb Blush

Visited a kiosk in a shopping plaza. Did not visit actual winery. Not too bad tasting, but can't give honest reviews without tasting all the wine at their vineyard.

Pioneer Valley Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 1 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 2 stars

Favorite Wine: Raspberry

Free wine tastings here. Fairly new vineyard so they are trying to get on their feet. Wine is "not bad" (and I say that hesitantly because it's not bad for a new winery. Terrible if put against others). They specialize in a lot of fruit wines (raspberry, apple, blueberry, etc).

Hopkins Vineyard (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Hopkins Vineyard Reserve White

Great wines and great view from the upstairs. You cannot bring your own food to this place though unless you will be drinking your wine outside as they serve cheese platters inside. We've had both excellent reds and whites here.

Sunset Meadow Vineyards (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Cayuga White

Outstanding staff and winery! Ton's of indoor seating, Nice sunny atrium for colder months. Spectacular wines!

Still River Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Apple Ice Wine. (Home)

Someone's home with no set winery hours. They only make Apple Ice Wine. The couple there more than welcomed us into their winery and their home and gave us a full tour with a tasting of the apple wine even though we did not call ahead. Very pleasant to deal with and wine was delicious!

Nashoba Valley Winery (written Mar 12, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 2 stars Ambiance: 1 stars

Favorite Wine: Vignoles

Some good wines, some had that fermented smell and taste to them. They do have beers and spirits to taste as well. This is a more "commercialized" place than a little quaint winery. Staff not terribly pleasant both times we visited. More interested in their business/money maker than pleasing customers. Can't get a glass of wine here. You have to purchase a tasting and have them do 5 pours of same wine. Tastings are purchased in one place at the register, done in another. You are handed 5 tickets at the register and have to hand a ticket at the tasing counter for each taste (as if they think you'll pull a fast one on them if they just go off a list like other wineries do). Was just not overall impressed. Also they are open year round, but NO indoor seating at all.
