Michelle's Wine Journal Entries

Bluff Top at Rocheport & Bistro, The (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Les Bourgeois is hands down the most picturesque of all the wineries I have visited in MO and KS. The Blufftop Bistro is beautifully set on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River. And the building is beautiful as well. Unfortunately I didn't do any wine tasting due to going there for a Mother's Day brunch. The food was great though! Hope to visit again soon to taste their wine.

Stone Hill Winery - Branson (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Favorite Wine: Golden Rhine or Cream Sherry

Stone Hill was my first tour and wine tasting. I really enjoyed the variety of wines they sold. The Cream Sherry was very interesting.

Holy-Field Vineyard and Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Favorite Wine: Vignoles or Late Harvest Vignoles

I went to Holy-Field for the first time recently. I only stayed a short time, just enough to sample a few wines. I found the owner, Michelle, to be quite friendly and really talked to me about the wines and even let me try a couple that they don't usually offer for tasting. They had a nice variety and I had a hard time deciding which to purchase. They have a nice store with gifts, etc. And the house dog was cute too! They have lots of music events and even let the public help pick grapes during harvest!

Riverwood Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 3 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

I really liked the neat gift shop and the lady working in the tasting room was a very friendly hostess. I wasn't blown away with any of the wines but I'm a sweet wine gal and they didn't have any amazing sweet wines. Neat place!

Jowler Creek Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 2 stars Winery: 3 stars Ambiance: 4 stars

Jowler Creek has a very nice outdoor seating area. The indoor tasting room was small but sufficient. I wasn't too taken with the wine and the owner seemed busy. It was just ok.

Pirtle Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 4 stars Winery: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Concord

Have visited Pirtle several times while taking day trips to Weston. It's unique due to being in an old building that was once a church. They have quite a variety of wines and meads which my dad liked and purchased. My fave was probably the sweet Concord. They have a nice outside seating area beside the building.

Ladoga Ridge Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Concord or the Peach Wine

I've been to Ladoga Ridge twice now and both experiences were great. The staff is so friendly and welcoming and even took the time to take a couple pictures for me! The tasting room is nice looking and they have outside seating as well with a nice view. For $5.00 we tasted all of their wines (probably 8 or 10) and we got to take home an etched wine glass. I really like their Concord which is very lush but I liked their Peach wine as well!

Belvoir Winery (written Sep 03, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Sorelle Dolci

This place is amazing! The building and grounds outside are just beautiful. It would be a nice location for a wedding! I'm a newby at wine but I liked the wine I tasted, with the sweet white wine, Sorelle Dolci, as my favorite. The staff was friendly and welcoming and enjoyed chatting with us about the history of the winery and the buildings. (I think it was the owners son-in-law so it's a family run business which is nice.) I visited 5 local wineries the same day and this was probably my favorite!

Stone Cliff Winery (written Jul 24, 2012)
Wine: 5 stars Winery: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars

Favorite Wine: Moscato

I really had a fun time in the tasting room of Stone Cliff Winery this summer. The wine tasting of 5 wines for $5.00 was awesome, and yes, you do get to take home an etched wine glass. They have an indoor tasting room plus a couple of outdoor patios that are quite picturesque as well. The staff was friendly and attentive. Really cool old building as well. I'm not a big wine drinker but the Moscato was very yummy! It has a light sweet and fruity taste. Very refreshing! I have a glass in the evening after dinner on occasion and enjoy every last sip! This place is worth visiting!!!!
